All Hunter Douglas options can be fully automated. You can control your shades via remote, cell phone or voice assistant through a smart phone.
Both the Applause® and Duette® honeycomb shades are ideal for skylights thanks to their exceptional insulating properties. The unique honeycomb cell structure traps air to create a thermal barrier, helping to reduce heat gain in the summer and retain warmth in the winter — making them as energy efficient as they are beautiful. This makes skylight honeycomb shades not just a aesthetic upgrade, but a smart investment in your home’s overall comfort and energy performance.

Hunter Douglas Skylight Shades®
Skylights bring beautiful natural light and a sense of openness into any home — but without the right window treatment, they can also let in excessive heat, glare, and UV rays that are difficult to control. Hunter Douglas offers a solution with skylight-compatible versions of their renowned Applause® and Duette® honeycomb shades, purpose-built to fit and function perfectly in skylight applications.
For skylight applications, motorization is strongly recommended and truly transforms the experience. Since skylights are typically installed in hard-to-reach locations — high ceilings, angled rooflines, or overhead installations — manual operation can be challenging or impractical. With full automation, your skylight shades can be effortlessly controlled by remote, smartphone, or integrated into your smart home system, allowing you to adjust light and privacy at the touch of a button from anywhere in the room.
Hunter Douglas Silhouette®
The Hunter Douglas Silhouette® provides a soft, delicate look that allows you to see through two layers of sheer material, giving you ultraviolet sun control in the open position.
The Silhouette can be customized to fit your needs. The vanes come in several sizes, including the classic 2-inch, 3-inch or the modern style 4-inch which gives you a maximum view. The fabrics come in light filtering or room darkening. The Silhouette Duolite provides even more room darkening functionality, attaching a blackout shade to the back of the Silhouette.
The Silhouette can be automated at large sizes, making it an ideal product for large windows. There are also several specialty manual controls, including the UltraGlide.
Hunter Douglas Luminette®
The Hunter Douglas Luminette® has fabric vanes and vertical sheer panels that can open for an exterior view, while still maintaining daytime privacy. At night, the vanes can be closed for privacy.
The Luminette features many of the same fabrics available on the Silhouette which allows you to mix and match with Silhouettes on your windows and Luminettes on your sliding glass doors. Other Hunter Douglas fabrics, including the Vignette roman shade, also complement the Luminette.
The Luminette can be fully automated, giving it a dramatic look when operated by remote or smartphone.
Hunter Douglas Pirouette®
The Hunter Douglas Pirouette® is a roman style shade that allows you to open up the folds with an attached sheer for viewing.
The Pirouette’s 5-inch folds turn a traditional roman shade into a contemporary shading that is both functional and stylish. The large folds provide a wide view outside while still maintaining daytime privacy and heat control. The Pirouette looks equally stylish when closed at night.
The Pirouette comes in both light filtering and room darkening fabrics. The optional ClearView sheer allows for an even more unobstructed view. The Pirouette can be fully automated.
